In November 2007, Alstom’s charter for responsible purchasing was defined. All Group suppliers and sub-contractors are requested to sign up to this.
This charter states that the principles set out in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights are respected by Alstom’s suppliers particularly with regard to child labour, health and safety, environment, as well as the full range of values set out in the Alstom Code of Ethics.
In April 2010, Alstom updated its charter, integrating its requirements in terms of ethics, in line with Alstom's new Code of Ethics
At the end of March 2011, more than 4500 Alstom partners have already expressed their commitment by signing this charter. The compliance with the charter is also integrated in Alstom’s general purchasing conditions.
