Suppliers non-compliant with Alstom's sustainable sourcing standards have to set up and implement corrective actions
The long-term objective, is for Alstom, to have zero non-compliant suppliers. Therefore, the Group has developed a series of guidelines defining the actions to take and related timeframe, based on the evaluation results of the supplier.
Improvement action plans are required to help non-compliant suppliers rectify critical issues identified via sustainable development assessments and/or audits. A complete toolkit is at the disposal of Alstom's sourcing community to enable it to support suppliers in the definition and implementation of corrective action plans. Once corrective actions are implemented, Alstom offers its suppliers the possibility to be re-assessed.
The results of the assessment represent an opportunity for purchaser to reinforce the partnership with their most advanced suppliers in terms of sustainable development.
However, Alstom does not hesitate to end relationships with suppliers that take on too many risks for the Group. As an example, Alstom stopped its relationship with a casting supplier whose employees, Alstom felt, were at a high security risk, despite the supplier's competitive, high quality products.
