To limit the environmental impacts of Alstom’s activities, the Group has adopted a set of four main targets for reductions by 2015: energy and water consumption, waste management and airborne emissions.
The Group strives to stay in line with best practices, and meet all certification standards. As of March 31st 2011, out of 198 manufacturing sites (excluding Grid):
- 103 are ISO 14001 certified (environment)
- 160 are ISO 9001 certified (quality)
- 71 are OHSAS 18001 certified (safety)
65 % of Grid’s sites are ISO 14001 certified and 64 % are OHSAS 18001 certified.
In addition to the ISO and OHSAS certifications, some sites in Germany are also certified under EMAS (EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme).
