Products 

The product business unit designs and manufactures comprehensive range of equipment ranging from 69 to 800 kV in direct current and up to 1200 kV in alternating current that enable the safe and efficient transmission of electricity

  • Power Transformers  

The scope of the Power Transformers Product Line covers all types of power transformers and reactors for power generation, power transmission and electro intensive industrial applications. Includes the design and manufacture of power transformers up to the largest ratings and voltages, with references for years for 800kV transformers.

Alstom Grid expertise extends to all levels of Generator transformers, interconnection and auto- transformers, step down transformers to shunt or series reactors, as well as HVDC converter transformers or Phase shifting transformers. Special transformers such as rectifier transformers for Electrolysis applications and arc furnace transformers are also part of the broad expertise with references for the world largest ratings. Our hermetically sealed, ‘Green’ HV vegetable oil power transformers are designed for ecologically sensitive areas; they reduce safety risks and improve performance ratings.

  • Gas Insulated Substations  

High voltage Gas-insulated Substations is from 69kV to 800kV.

Our Gas-insulated Substation equipment is used to interconnect and protect electrical networks around the world. Within GIS, insulation is ensured by a dry gas with strong insulating capacities.

  • High Voltage Circuit Breakers  

Our Air Insulated Switchgear equipment is used to interconnect and protect electrical networks around the world. The Circuit Breakers are from 69kV to 800kV along with options of synchronizing relays and monitoring solutions.

We have the GL range of live tank circuit breaker and the HYpact as compact circuit breaker. The main focus of the GL range is to increase overall circuit breaker performances and reliability (reducing spring operating mechanism power). Hypact modules can be used everywhere in the energy field. They are composed of three separate gas tanks, each of them contains all switching devices for one phase: circuit breaker, disconnector and earthing switch. They are space saving due to their compact design and are easy to install and commission.

  • Instrument Transformers  

Our Instrument Transformer range up to 1100kV provides accurate and reliable current and voltage measurements to secondary equipment such as: meters, protection relays, bay computers and other devices.

They are a vital link in the power delivery chain linking transmission and distribution networks. The range includes the products Capacitor Voltage Transformer, Combined Metering Unit, Current Transformer, Voltage Transformer and the Non Conventional Instrument Transformers (optical). Our products are very careful design entirely focused towards addressing two major goals: security and long life.

  • Disconnectors  

Alstom Grid designs, manufactures and distributes electro-mechanical switching devices that provide, in the open position, a reliable, visual isolating gap to ensure safety to human operators during maintenance operations.

We have a complete range of indoor and outdoor disconnectors, from 72,5kV to 1200kV AC and 800kV DC, for all types of substation layout and for all regions with extreme climates or with challenging environments such as seismic activity. Disconnectors provide visible and reliable air isolation to ensure the safety of people working on high voltage networks and are an essential element of electrical power transmission systems. The range includes the center-break, double-side breaker and pantograph & semi-pantograph disconnectors. 

Systems  

The Systems business unit specialises in engineering and project management for large turnkey transmission projects and special power supplies for electro-intensive industries

  • Turnkey projects & High Voltage Substations  

Alstom Grid has the skills and experience, the network and local resources, to reliably complete and deliver a turnkey system and a high voltage substation.

The turnkey project includes: Engineering and design: Detailed studies and design of all necessary equipment, systems and civil works.

The timely completion of Civil works, which requires efficient site management, is vital to the timely completion of the project. Equipment and systems manufacturing is realized by sub-suppliers or Alstom Grid factories.
Installation occurs as soon as equipment arrives on site. Commissioning: After equipment verification, control software is installed and the entire system is tested. before handing over the site to the client for commercial operation.

  • HVDC Solutions  

Transmission of energy between two asynchronous alternating current (AC) networks.

Back-to-Back system gives your own system more flexibility and can prevent you from having to build a new generation network. The power flow is fast and accurate and prevents widespread blackouts from occurring.
Ultra High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) transmission, with voltages of up to 800 kV provides even greater advantages when applied to the very high power levels and long distances required by many large rapidly industrializing countries/regions, where rates of load growth are very high and sources of generation may be thousands of kilometers away from the load centers.
