- 1958 Began supplying China with electric and diesel electric locomotives.
- 1979 First representative office set up in Beijing, making it one of the earliest international companies to enter China in the wake of the country's opening.
- 1995 Creation of Tianjin ALSTOM Hydro Co.ltd.
- 1999 ALSTOM (China) Investment Co. Ltd. was founded in Beijing with registered capital of US$30 million, which was substantially increased since then
- 2003 Won the 300 MW CFB boiler contract for Baima thermal power plant
- 2003-2004 Supplied Longshan/Pingwei/ Dabieshan locally manufactured 600MW steam turbine and generator sets. Won a combined €357 Million contract for Huizhou, Baoquan and Bailianhe pumped storage projects. Won two important contracts for the supply of 60 high-speed Electrical Multiple Units (EMUs) and 180 high-power double locomotives in collaboration with local partners
- 2005 Alstom with its partner Dongfang Electric, won Ling Ao phase-II contract to supply the 2 sets of 1,000 MW steam turbine and generator package
- 2006 Signed an important technical transferring contract for world’s most powerful electric freight locomotive 9600KW)
- 2007 Signed two contracts for a total amount of more than €350 million for the manufacture of 500 electric freight locomotives and the electrification of the Shi-Tai highspeed line
- 2008 The first driverless train of Beijing Airport Link in China for the Olympic Games starts its operation with Control System equipped by Alstom
- 2009 Alstom inaugurated the new manufacturing site of Wuhan Boiler Company Ltd. (WBC) in Wuhan.
- 2009 In partnership with China Electric Power Research Institute (CEPRI), Alstom Grid won a contract todeliver to State Grid of China (SGCC) High Voltage Direct Current systems for projects interconnecting Ningdong to Shandong area (North-West of China)and the Three Gorges Dam to Shanghai in 2009.
- 2010 Alstom China welcomed the joining of nearly 2000 people from a dozen of entities from the newly created third sector— Alstom Grid.
- 2010 Alstom signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CNR Corporation Ltd., (“CNR”) and Shanghai Electric Group Co., Ltd., (“SEC”) - to form a strategic partnership and jointly develop new markets for mass transit products.
