ALSTOM Grid Oy's quality system meets the requirements of the ISO 9001:2008 standard. Our quality system was first certified in 1993.
Environmental Certificate
ALSTOM Grid Oy's environmental management system was certified according to the ISO 14001 standard in 2000. It is based on environmental considerations as well as statutory or other requirements and industry recommendations.
Besides production, the certified environmental management system covers all the administrative functions affecting the environment. Continuous personnel training, ranging from practical recovery instructions to the industry's general environmental impacts, is included in the system.
ALSTOM Grid Oy's employees have committed themselves to continuous development of the environmental management system and to reworking procedures to meet the challenges of sustainable development.
We recycle more than 60% of our waste. Since 1990, we have continued to reduce the amount of landfill waste. The current volume is just 1/20 of the waste that was sent to landfills ten years ago. All surplus metal, plastic and oil is recovered and recycled or disposed of in an appropriate manner. We are currently looking into the possibility of using water-soluble paints in our production.
No Hazardous Waste
The life of a capacitor is about 20 years. It is disposed of with no strain on the environment: we recycle the metal and plastic components and burn the remaining parts for energy in an authorized waste incineration plant.

Health and Safety
ALSTOM Grid Oy's principal aim is to create and secure working environment where safety is an integral part of all functions of the company. This applies both to ALSTOM Grid Oy's employees as well as outside contractors in the installation sites. Reaching the goal requires a strong commitment by company management, employees, and taking an active part of the continuous interaction between the company and its stakeholders to enable the security level to correspond to changing operational requirements. The systematic implementation of the procedure during the last three years has brought visible results in the working environment safety indicators.
Our occupational health and safety management system was certified according to the standard OHSAS 18001 and IQNet 9004.
