In Alstom Grid's factory in Tampere, formerly known by the name Nokian Capacitors, we engineer and manufacture products and systems for reactive power compensation and harmonic filtering.
The operations started up in 1957 in Helsinki under the name of "Finnish Cable Works Co. Ltd.". The company's capacitor division moved to Tampere at the end of the 1960's.
Our Nokian Capacitors -solutions improve the quality of power through reactive power compensation and harmonic filtering. Our products range from low and high voltage capacitors and electronic equipment to air-core reactors and compensation systems. These products are used to reduce overall power consumption, thereby removing the need for oversized power systems, and to eliminate disturbances.
By decreasing the electrical losses in the transmission and distribution networks, and hence reducing the emissions of CO2, this technology is making an active contribution to reducing global warming.
