The presence of Alstom Transport in Finland dates back to the 1950's with a first contract for diesel-electric locomotives. More recent contracts include the supply of the Pendolino (SM3) and the SM4 commuter trains to VR Ltd, the traction system on the M200 fleet of metro cars for HKL-HST and bogies mounted on the IC2 double deck coaches.
Currently Alstom Transport is delivering four high speed Pendolino “Allegro” trains to the Helsinki-St. Petersburg high speed link operated for Karelian Trains.
