Alstom brings to market Digital Substation 2.0 featuring smart technologies

This week at CIGRE 2014, Alstom announced the release of Digital Substation 2.0, bringing together the powerful potential of primary and secondary plant smart digital technologies. The release is already under execution with customers.

This latest compact, universal solution extends substation automation monitoring and control applications, improves personnel safety, and reduces the footprint. Digital Substation 2.0 enhances Smart Grid management and operation using intuitive dashboards for enhanced situational awareness. It ensures optimum real-time performance of the grid by monitoring availability, health, and dynamic loading capability of the substation assets and connected circuits.

Alstom also released DS Agile v6, the next generation Digital Control System (DCS) for smart Digital Substations. DS Agile v6 incorporates a brand-new Human-Machine Interface (HMI) that provides new functionalities and intuitive dashboards for enhanced situational awareness.

Through complete, real-time local and wide-area monitoring and data processing, DS Agile v6 simplifies substation operators decision-taking, increases equipment loadability and availability, anticipates potential faults, minimises outage times and helps optimise maintenance costs, whilst increasing the substations physical and cyber security.
