...the technological revolution for electrical networks
Market, environment and technology changes in the energy world
Today’s electrical networks are coming to terms with new challenges: the race for a cleaner and sustainable energy; the need for a more stable grid to face a growing electricity consumption; and the imperative to adapt the existing infrastructures to new technologies and an increased electricity flow.
The new generation of electrical networks
As a result, the networks are evolving into Smart Grids, intelligent infrastructures able to integrate new clean energy sources, provide higher security for the electricity flow, as well as optimise the energy efficiency to reduce both its costs and its environmental impact.
When energy meets information
The Smart Grid is a permanently evolving electrical network, with a real-time two-way flow of energy & information, between power generation, grid operator, and end users. It is capable of integrating all traditional and new actors: renewable generation units (wind farms, solar farms, etc.), electrical vehicles, electrical storage, or even entire smart cities.
