A pioneering smart grid demonstration, Project FENIX ran in the UK from 2005 to 2009.
The objective was to make Distributed Energy Resource (DER) systems a cost efficient, secure and sustainable solution for the European Union’s electricity supply system. Alstom Grid, through its e-terra trade platform and Intra-Day Plant Optimiser (IPO) provided advanced systems and market interfaces to aggregate and synchronise distributed energy resources in a virtual power plant.
