The European Metalworkers’ Federation (EMF), Alstom and Schneider Electric have concluded a European agreement that reflects the strong commitments of the two industrial Groups on the integration of Areva T&D’s employees, to provide them with a professional future and better prospects to develop their long-term potential. Patrick Kron, Alstom Chairman and CEO, and Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Schneider Electric President & CEO, had already expressed their shared views on employment management, training and promotion of social dialogue during the Areva group’s European Committee meeting held on December 17, 2009.

The annual shareholders’ meeting of Alstom, held in Paris on 22 June 2010, approved the appointments of Mrs. Lalita Gupte, former Joint Managing Director and member of the board of ICICI Bank Ltd, and Mrs. Katrina Landis, Group Vice President of BP Alternative Energy, as members of Alstom’s Board of directors.
Alstom to supply maintenance for 135 suburban trains in Stockholm

Stockholmståg, the company operating commuter trains in the greater Stockholm area, in Sweden, has awarded Alstom Transport with a maintenance contract worth €107 million over a five-year period, for the maintenance of a fleet of 135 suburban trains.

By its acquisition on 7 June 2010 of Areva T&D’s transmission business, Alstom completes a decisive stage in its development by forming a new sector, named Alstom Grid, to supplement the existing two sectors in power generation and rail transport, Power and Transport. Priced at €2.3 billion, this acquisition gives a new dimension to the Group, which, now with its three activities, achieves sales of more than €23 billion and employs more than 96,000 people.

The acquisition by Alstom and Schneider Electric in consortium of Areva T&D will lead to an indirect acquisition of 72.18% of the share capital of Areva T&D India, a company listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange, the National Stock Exchange of India and the Calcutta Stock Exchange. Areva T&D India Ltd. is a market leader in India with sales of around €500 million in 2009.
