Casablanca chooses Alstom’s Citadis for its future tramway network

Casa Transports, the public company in charge of the construction of the tramway network in Casablanca, Morocco, has chosen Alstom for the delivery and maintenance of 74 Citadis trams. This contract has a firm tranche of approximately €120 million. The deal also includes options for the supply of additional trainsets, as well as maintenance of the fleet over a 15-year period. The total value of this contract, including the firm tranche, options and maintenance, amounts to over €190 million.


Alstom becomes a partner of the Nicolas Hulot Foundation for Nature and Mankind

Alstom has signed two contracts, worth a total value of approximately 450 million euros, known as the Mannheim 9 project, to supply Grosskraftwerk Mannheim AG with new boiler and turbine units at the company’s Mannheim power plant in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Between 1 April 2009 and 30 September 2009, Alstom registered order intake of €7.1 billion, down from the record level of the first six months of the previous year. Over the same period, sales (€9.7 billion) and income from operations (€828 million) continued to grow, up respectively by 8% and 19%. The operating margin reached 8.6% as compared to 7.8% last year. The net result amounted to €562 million (+7%), whilst the free cash flow decreased to €77 million due to the sharp drop in orders received.


Alstom signs €178 million variable speed pumped-storage hydro contract

Alstom Hydro* has been awarded a €178 million contract to provide four 250 MW variable speed pump turbine and motor generator units for a new pumped storage installation in Switzerland. The plant’s 1000 MW generation capacity will supply enough electricity to power around 1 million homes, mainly cover the peak power demand and help to further develop Switzerland’s low-carbon power generation peak demand.


SNCF awards Alstom a contract worth €800 million for the supply of 100 Coradia Polyvalent regional trains

Alstom has recently won several contracts, worth approximately €100 million, in the Middle East in the field of power generation equipment. Notably, Alstom will supply key equipment to Korean contractor Hanwha Engineering & Construction for the new Samra III gas-fired power plant in the Kingdom of Jordan.


Alstom and TransAlta launch Project Pioneer, designed to capture and store 1 million tonnes of CO2 per year

Alstom and major Canadian power company TransAlta - along with their partners in the governments of Canada and Alberta and Capital Power, an independent power producer- announced on October 15th the creation of a partnership to construct a large-scale carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and storage (CCS) demonstration facility at one of TransAlta’s coal-fired generating stations in Canada. The project is a major step toward advancing the capture of greenhouse gas emissions, with over 500 million euros funded by the Canadian and Alberta governments, and will be named Project Pioneer.


Alstom signs two cooperation agreements for signalling and trams in Kazakhstan

On 6 October 2009, Alstom CEO Patrick Kron signed two cooperation agreements covering production of turnout motors and supply of a tram system for Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital city. These two agreements were signed in the framework of a Franco-Kazakh business forum held during President Sarkozy’s visit to Kazakhstan.


Alstom to supply 52 Citadis tramsets to the Brest and Dijon conurbations for a total of more than €100 million

On 15 September 2009, the conurbations of Brest and Dijon announced their decision to select Alstom to supply 52 Citadis tramsets representing a total of more than €100 million. The two conurbations opted to join forces for this project to pool their needs and streamline their investments. Brest will receive 20 tramsets, while 32 tramsets will go to Dijon.
