Rail Transport in India
The Transport sector in India has potential, particularly, the metro segment with projects in progress or planned for Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and other major cities.
The Coimbatore manufacturing was established in 1999 to manufacture a range of traction and signaling equipment to supply the Indian market. The factory is ISO 2000 and 14001 certified and is located in an industrial area with access to component suppliers.
The Bangalore Engineering team is currently providing application engineering for a number of ALSTOM Signaling projects in Europe and in Asia.
Alstom Transport has been awarded in Sept. 2010 a contract to deliver rolling stocks for Chennai metro. This new contract confirms that Alstom is well positioned to respond to all opportunities arising from one of the largest railway markets in the world.
