The ad hoc committee of independent directors appointed by the Board on April 29, 2014 and led by Jean-Martin Folz, thoroughly reviewed, on multiple occasions, the proposed transactions. Based on the works of the committee and financial and legal advisors, the Board of Directors has unanimously decided to issue a positive recommendation of the offer from GE.
Alstom Transport will be at InnoTrans, the largest trade fair for the railway industry, to be held in Berlin, Germany from 23 to 26 September 2014. On this occasion, Alstom will introduce three major innovations: the very latest version of its Citadis tram, a predictive maintenance tool, and new versions of the Atlas range, its ERTMS solution.
Alstom signed a contract with Länsi-Suomen Voima Oy, owner of the 72 MW Harjavalta hydro power plant, to retrofit and upgrade two existing generators and provide one new generator, for a total amount of more than 10 M€.
The first of a total of eight Alstom’s Pendolino ETR 610 trains ordered by the Swiss operator, SBB, in July 2012 left Savigliano manufacturing plant in Italy today, in accordance with the planned schedule.
At its arrival, the train – which has already obtained the type homologation for Switzerland – will pass the last dynamic tests. Two trains are scheduled to be handed over to SBB by the end of 2014.
Alstom signed a contract with Statkraft for the supply of new control systems and balance of plant equipment for the Tysso II hydro power plant in Skjeggedal in the south western part of Norway
Between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 2014, Alstom booked €21.5 billion of orders, down 10% compared to last year. Sales, at €20.3 billion, showed a 4% organic growth compared to last year. Income from operations amounted to €1,424 million, down 3%, with a 7% operating margin.
The Board of Directors of Alstom announced today that it has received a binding offer from General Electric (GE) to acquire its Energy activities. The scope of the transaction includes the Thermal Power, Renewable Power and Grid Sectors, as well as corporate and shared services.
Alstom’s share is worth around €220 million. The contract will cover 310 km of new high speed line from Valladolid to León and from Venta de Baños to Burgos.
This project is part of the non-core asset disposal programme, announced by Alstom last November. The transaction is expected to close before the end of 1st half of fiscal year 2014/15.
A pilot plant for purifying exhaust gases and recovery of waste heat was today opened by Oil and Energy Minister Tord Lien at Mosjøen. The AHEX technology used in the plant, was developed over 10 years of collaboration between Alstom and Alcoa, with significant support from Enova.
