The Group’s energy intensity is measured in terms of amount of energy used in relation to hours worked.
Alstom has defined a 10% energy intensity reduction target by 2020, in relation to the base year of 2014.
In 2014 the actions launched to reduce energy consumption continued to pay off and the European sites benefited also from mild weather conditions which impacted the heating energy consumption. Altogether Alstom has reduced its energy intensity in permanent facilities (measured in kWh per employees hoursworked) by 18% between 2008 and 2014.
The 2016 action plan helped Alstom meet its 2020 goal of a 10% reduction in the energy intensity of operations ahead of schedule in March 2017.
