ALSTOM to supply 100 diesel-electric locomotives in Iran

ALSTOM has received confirmation of an order worth 192 million euros from Iran's state railways, for the supply of 100 diesel-electric locomotives for passenger and goods transport.

The contract covers the supply of 100 type AD43 C, 4,300 HP locomotives equipped with ALSTOM Ruston diesel engines and ONIX asynchronous drive systems.

The first 20 locomotives will be manufactured entirely at ALSTOM's factory in Belfort, Eastern France. The remaining 80 units will be assembled in Iran by Pars Wagon, ALSTOM's local partner for the contract.

In total, ALSTOM has manufactured over 20,000 diesel-electric locomotives in France, the UK and Spain for more than 70 rail operators on all continents. Its new range of asynchronous diesel-electric locomotives is designed to ensure maximum operating reliability and substantially reduced running costs.
