Unit No. 3 will combust low-sulphur coal from the Powder River Basin of Wyoming. An ALSTOM designed rotary atomizer, spray dryer absorber Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) system and high-ratio, pulse-jet fabric filter will be installed for control of gaseous and particulate air pollutants, including SO 2. ALSTOM’s DFGD system is required to meet stringent local and federal environmental standards for air quality. The ALSTOM DFGD system will achieve and maintain emissions without the use of a recycle system. The DFGD system will also consume plant wastewater to achieve a zero liquid discharge requirement. ALSTOM’s scope of supply includes design, supply and commissioning services for the DFGD system. The project is scheduled to start-up in July 2006.
