Alstom has signed a 15 year service contract with Gujarat State
Electricity Corporation Ltd. (GSECL) to maintain the Utran Power Plant
near Surat, about 270 km north of Mumbai.

The scope of the maintenance agreement covers the supply of parts and services for the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of the GT26 gas turbine and associated electrical generator, auxiliaries and controls.

In April 2007, Alstom was awarded the EPC contract for construction of the Utran 370 MW Power Plant, which is the first Alstom GT26 gas-turbine-based combined cycle power plant to be built in India. This plant will be an extension of the existing 135 MW combined cycle power plant located at Utran and is due to go into commercial operation in August 2009.

The power plant will be built using Alstom's GT26 gas turbine technology, which, in combined cycle, is the most efficient gas turbine technology on the market with the highest overall plant efficiency in its class.
