Enerjisa choses Alstom as supplier of hydropower equipment and services for Arkun power plant in Turkey

Enerjisa Power Generation Company, a joint venture of Turkish Sabanc Holding and the Austrian Verbund has signed a contract with Alstom, the worlds leading supplier of hydro power equipment and services, to supply, erect and commission the electro-mechanical equipment for the Arkun hydro power plant on the Çoruh River.  

Arkun HEPP will be Enerjisas biggest hydro power plant in terms of installed capacity, 236 MW. Arkun will provide Turkey with 800 GWh of locally produced, renewable energy and generate sufficient power to provide electricity to around 460,000 homes, contributing to helping Turkey meet its ambitious environmental goals and to improving its energy security.

Under the terms of the contract Alstom will engineer, supply and install three 76.6 megawatt (MW) vertical Francis hydropower turbines (totaling 228 MW), inlet valves, three generators as well as the plants switchyard, control system and balance of plant.
