Since December 2010, the SNCF has been commercialising its new «TGV Box» offer on the TGV Est. Thanks to Alstoms AGATE e-media technology, passengers travelling on trains from Paris to Strasbourg will be able to access, via a Wi-Fi network, an SNCF portal offering a wide range of services and content as well as be connected to Internet by satellite.
In April 2007, the consortium OCEA, comprised of Orange Business Service (a service, back-office and integration portal), in partnership with Eutelsat (satellite communication) and Alstom Transport was selected to deploy the system on the entire TGV Est fleet (52 train sets).

With this new service portal, Alstom has implemented an on-board Wi-Fi network that enables passengers to benefit from continuous broadband connection (54Mbits). The system is based on adapting existing technology to the operational constraints of the TGV: speeds of 320 km/h, shocks and vibrations, aerial bases exposed to the wind, strong acceleration, deceleration and braking.

Alstom had already designed and developed the passenger information system for the Mooviter regional train, inaugurated in October 2008 and now in operation in the Brittany region. The passenger information system on this prototype train offers, in addition to a traditional public address system for passenger announcements, on-board Internet access, interactive terminals and real time information screens.
