The international agency, ETHIC Intelligence, has just certified Alstoms Integrity Programme following an audit which took place between January and July 2011 in around ten countries and with the participation of 140 Alstom employees. Alstom is the first company in the CAC40* to receive this certification which confirms its efforts over several years to strengthen and develop its ethics policy.

ETHIC Intelligence is a certifying body with a presence in eight countries which specialises in the field of ethics and compliance policies and in particular, in matters of corruption prevention. It also works with companies to develop and implement anti-corruption policies which comply with legal requirements and best international practice.

In 2009, ETHIC Intelligence had already certified the rules and procedures implemented at Alstom to strictly control the relationships with agents and commercial consultants. This certification was renewed for a period of a further two years in 2011.

The new certification covers a much wider scope including the whole of Alstoms Integrity Programme (respect for laws and rules, management of conflicts of interest, gifts and hospitality, charitable contributions, sponsoring, sourcing ethics, etc). It takes into account all measures implemented by Alstom, from the production of a Code of Ethics distributed in 21 languages to all Group employees, to the review of instructions concerning business and behavioural ethics, as well as the many associated training tools. It also covers the widespread internal communication of the ethics rules, processes and values, whose implementation is managed by the Ethics and Compliance Department. This department can also call upon a community of 250 volunteer « ethics and compliance ambassadors » within the Group.

The global certification accorded by ETHIC Intelligence allows the measurement of Alstoms achievements over several years to bring its rules and procedures up to best international standards.
The documents relating to ETHIC Intelligences certification and Alstoms Integrity Programme are publicly available on the Alstom internet site : http://www.wcm.alstom.com/ethics/ .
