Much anticipated report outlines best practices and recommendations for renewable energy integration

In October 2011, Alstom Grid's Dr. Lawrence Jones hosted a series of webcasts presenting preliminary findings from a U.S. Department of Energy study of ways grid operators from around the world have successfully navigated the challenges posed by rapidly-expanding use of renewable energy sources.

This first-of-its-kind research project assembled input from 33 grid operators in 18 countries who together account for more than 72% of all wind generation capacity installed worldwide.

More than 900 people participated in those webcasts, and interest in the full report has grown steadily over the past two months.

Earlier this week, the Department of Energy responded to that critical mass of industry interest with the release of the full study - Strategies and Decision Support Systems for Integrating Variable Energy Resources in Control Centers for Reliable Grid Operations.

Alstom Grid is proud to have worked in close partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, and Areva Federal Services, to deliver this landmark report, the findings of which clearly demonstrate the industry's appetite for further sharing of best practices in pursuit of a cleaner energy future.
