The 8 Citadis Compact tramsets ordered from Alstom by the Pays d'Aubagne et de l'Etoile metropolitan region are to be customised by modern artist Hervé Di Rosa.

Public proximity, accessibility, openness and creativity are the tramway values that the artist wants to highlight, with the help of children from the area and in collaboration with Xavier Allard, Director of Design&Styling at Alstom Transport.

Pays d'Aubagne et de l'Etoile is the first metropolitan region to choose Alstom's new-generation compact tramway, and this is the first time that a modern artist has been chosen to customise the design. Hervé Di Rosa will work on both the exterior and the interior of the tramway (fittings, colour and ambiance), aiming to give it a warm and human atmosphere.

The Séte-born artist says: "This is a space for everyone, so I'd like to make it beautiful and user-friendly. I want to lead a complete teaching project for the primary school children and involve them in creating the tram livery. I'd also like to bring back memories of the old tramway to people in Aubagne and forge a link between past and present." (1)
