Kraftwerke Hinterrhein AG (KHR), one of the largest hydro power generation companies in Switzerland, has awarded Alstom Grid a contract for the rehabilitation of generator-to-transformer connections at three hydro power plants.

The contract is one lot of the complete rehabilitation program of the Sils, Bärenburg and Ferrera hydro power plants. The existing plants have been in service for around 45 years and need a complete rehabilitation.

The scope of supply includes Alstom Grid FKG2S generator circuit breakers, the first Alstom Grid GCBs to be installed in Switzerland, the replacement of the 10.5 kV equipment in the connection between generators and transformers, and modification of existing busbars at the three hydro power plants.

Alstom Grid is pleased to have been selected for this turnkey project, stated Michel Augonnet, Senior Vice President, Alstom Grid. This contract was awarded to the most competitive offer that fully met their specifications and expectations.

The contract was signed the end of January 2011 and project completion is scheduled for May 2016.
