Building on the long established annual Steam Turbine User Group event, the IMechEs Fossil Power Committee recently organised a two-day event for both Steam Turbines and Generators.
The new Steam Turbine and Generator Users Group event was held at Coventry University on 22nd and 23rd March. This years event was sold out with over 150 delegates attending from across the power industry.
The event provided an opportunity for management, operation and maintenance of steam turbines and generators, to discuss common problems and issues, exchange ideas, identify potential solutions and learn about new developments.
Alstom made six presentations at the event, all of which were well received and promoted lively discussion. Issues relating to steam turbines and generators for fossil, nuclear, CCGT, CHP, energy from waste, and industrial applications were addressed. The scope included steam turbines (including for mechanical drive), generators, condensers and auxiliary systems (such as lube oil and gland steam systems).
