Alstom Power to modernise a steam turbine at Oulu Energy in Northern Finland

Alstom Power has been awarded the modernisation of the high pressure (HP) section of a 145 MW LMZ steam turbine at Oulu Energy's Toppila unit 2 power plant in Oulu, Northern Finland. The contract value is approximately 6 million. 

Alstoms scope includes a complete HP turbine retrofit covering engineering, manufacturing, and transportation of the new HP module, as well as disassembly of the old module and erection and commissioning of the new module.

The turbine retrofit will significantly improve the HP turbines efficiency and provide increased output. The replacement work at the site will be performed in July 2012 in a span of 35 days.

Toppila power plant produces electricity and district heating from wood and peat for the city of Oulu in Northern Finland. The two units of the power plant provide 210 MW of electricity and 340 MWth of district heating, constituting about 40 % of the electricity and about 90 % of the district heat produced by Oulu Energy power plants in Finland.
