Clean Power, and how do we achieve this in the UK?  This was just one of several key questions asked to an audience of 92 energy industry professionals, educators and opinion leaders at a dedicated Alstom Power forum on 30th March.

The Clean Power Day UK invited its audience to experience a host of presentations in key areas delivered by Alstom professionals and guest speakers.

Stephen Burgin, UK Country President and Head of UK Power, kicked off proceedings by providing an overview of Alstom’s activities in the UK.  Following on, Philippe Joubert, President Power, in his ‘delivering the climate change' speech helped us to understand Alstom’s Clean Power Strategy in relation to environmental drivers and the new types of technology and innovations that the Company is researching.  Other presentations throughout the day focussed on Alstom’s various solutions to the Clean Power Challenge, especially in the important area of renewables.

Guest speaker John Cridland, Director General of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), provided an industry view on climate change, followed by second guest speaker Ben Page, from market research company Ipsos Mori, who gave an interesting consumer insight into attitudes and opinions relating to climate change and how the general public feel generally about renewable alternatives.

The day concluded with a panel discussion, hosted by Joan MacNaughton, Senior VP of Alstom Power's Power and Environmental Policies group accompanied by John Cridland and Ben Page, where the audience were invited to ask questions to their speaker of choice.   Stephen Burgin provided final words on the day’s activities, emphasising the need to address future power needs in the cleanest possible way.

All presentations are now available to view on the dedicated Clean Power Day website.  Once on the website, please go to 'schedule' and click on the presentation name you are interested in, which will automatically load the PDF.

This Clean Power Day is part of a worldwide Roadshow that Alstom Power are taking to sites across the world in a bid to incite debate and discussions on the global Climate Change Challenge.
