Alstom Grid wins turnkey project to deliver 420 kV substation for Svenska Kraftnät in Sweden 

Alstom Grid, the global expert in electrical grid performance, has been awarded an 11 million euro contract by the Swedish transmission systems operator Svenska Kraftnät to deliver a new 420 kV substation in Barkeryd outside Nässjö in the southern part of the country. Once completed, the new substation will become the northern connection point for the major High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission South West Link, by connecting the HVDC converter station to the Swedish grid backbone Under the turnkey contract, Alstom Grid will deliver a switchyard with eight double breaker bays, protection and control equipment, civil works and the power line works.

We are proud to be entrusted with the task to deliver the Barkeryd substation to Svenska Kraftnät given its importance in the South West Link, said Fredrik Owman, Alstom Grids Country Sales Director and Unit Managing Director in Sweden.

The project will be lead and executed by Alstom Grids Swedish Solutions Unit located in Västerås, together with subcontractors for certain parts of the scope, such as civil works and site erection works. The project is due for completion in October 2013.

Following an earlier contract signed with Svenska Kraftnät in November 2010, Alstom Grid is also currently delivering a new Smart Grid-ready Energy Management System for Swedens national power grid.
