Alstom Grid has signed a contract with PT PLN (Persero), Indonesias state-owned utility, for the extension of two 500 kV substations at Kembangan and Muara Tawar, and delivery of a new

150 kV substation in Muara Tawar. The contract valued around 17 million, is part of the Scattered Transmission and Substations projects (Package 7) tendered by PLN to reinforce the transmission network in and around Jakarta, increasing both capacity and security of supply.

Alstoms scope includes the turnkey expansion of 500 kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) at the Kembangan substation (to introduce two additional transmission line circuits) and, at Muara Tawar, the extension of an existing 500 kV Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) substation and delivery of a new 150 kV AIS substation, including protection and control systems and civil works on both sites.

The project will be engineered by Alstom Grid in its Jakarta facilities. Power transformers will be sourced from Alstom's UNINDO Manufacturing facility in Jakarta and GIS equipment sourced and financed from France.

The project is planned for completion by end of 2012.

We are proud to have been selected by PLN for this critical project to reinforce the transmission network in and around Jakarta, said Maurice Dres, Alstom Grid East Asia Pacific Regional Vice President. Not only will the new equipment deliver more energy but it will increase the grids performance, efficiency and reliability in Jakarta. This new contract win illustrates Alstoms strong support and commitment to providing PLN with the most competitive solutions.
