On september 24th 2011, Alstom has delivered the two first Citadis trainsets for Constantine’s tramway line. This 8 kilometers track will join the city center to Zouaghi at the south of the city. Shipped on september 15th fom the Spanish Alstom’s facility in Santa Perpetua, they arrived in Alger on September 20th and will then join Zouaghi’s depot.

The arrival of these first trainsets is the beginning of the delivry of 27 Citadis tramways ordered by the EMA (Entreprise du Métro D’Alger). Fifteen trainsets are currently under construction and 3 others trainsets are ready for shipping. Two trainsets will be delivered at the Zouaghi’s depot per month.

This is an important step in the development of the Constantine’s Turnkey tramway network which was ordered by the EMA to Pizzarotti and Alstom groups. Pizzaroti is responsible for the global engineering and the civil engineering works. In addition to the Citadis’ trainsets, Alstom supplies the operating system (track laying, electrical power supply, signalling, telecommunications, computer ticketing) and the depot’s equipment.

Beside this delivery for Constantine, Alstom finished to deliver the 30 Citadis trainsets for Oran and will deliver the two last trainsets of the 41 Citadis fleet ordered by the EMA for Alger.
