Alstom Grid has launched an updated version of its well respected Network Protection and Automation Guide (NPAG), a comprehensive 500 page technical reference textbook which offers protection engineers and technicians the latest information and advice on protective relays, measurement and control. For this 5th edition of the NPAG, Alstom Grid has capitalised on its pool of substation automation experts at its global Centre of Excellence in Stafford, United Kingdom.

Additional chapters include guidance on system integrity protection and remedial action schemes, phasor measurements and wide area schemes. New information is also available in the guide for the first time on digital substations, including IEC 61850, Ethernet station bus and precision time synchronising, reflecting new developments and advances in technology.

Hervé Amossé, Vice-President, Substation Automation Solutions, Alstom Grid said, We are proud to offer an updated and impartial reference guide for those working within the network protection and automation field. This is part of our effort to continually share Alstom Grids knowledge and expertise within the industry and technical institutions.

The book also serves as key reference for the international delegates at ALSTOMs Annual Application and Protection of Power Systems (APPS) training courses, which Alstom Grid has been running for more than 50 years. The APPS courses are also regularly updated along with the textbook, ensuring attendees receive the latest and most up-to-date guidance on the topic.
