Alstom Grid achieved an important milestone in January
2012 – we have now been operating one full year without
any lost time accidents in Finland. This also means that all Alstom businesses in Finland have worked one year without any lost time accidents.

The
Alstom Group is investing heavily in safety. Alstom's objective
is to minimize accidents and to avoid serious accidents completely. Occupational
safety is measured e.g with Injury
Frequency Rate (IFR), which means
the number of injuries with one day lost or more related to a common exposure
of million hours.

The
Injury Frequency Rate in the Tampere
factory has now reached the limit of zero. We have worked systematically from
year 2008 to reduce the number of accidents.

A
significant factor in improving the safety culture has been the good commitment of our personnel. We have
put effort in safety trainings. We have added and improved the guidance and internal
communication.

Accidents
and near
misses are investigated systematically
and we have improved the risk assessment system. Our workers, supervisors and
management team perform safety tours in our factory regularly. We have a
certified safety system (OHSAS 18 001), which is audited annually by an external
auditor. Also Alstom´s internal programs suh as APS (Alstom
Production System) and EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) Roadmap guide us the right direction with safety issues.

The
safety of our employees and contractors is very important for us. We will
continue to closely monitor and improve our occupational safety systems.
