ALSTOM India Limited names Patrick Ledermann as new Vice Chairman and Managing Director

Alstom the worlds leading energy solutions and transport company, today announced the appointment of Patrick Ledermann as the new Vice Chairman and Managing Director of ALSTOM India Limited (AIL). Effective 1st October 2012, he takes up the position, previously held by Francois Carpentier, who has moved to the companys HQ in France. 

He is also appointed the Regional Vice President Global Power Sales (GPS) India Region, which includes Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.  In addition, Mr. Ledermann will be in charge of coordinating Thermal Power activities in India and will be based out of Noida, India. 

Patrick Ledermann is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole des Mines de Paris. He directed the Nuclear Construction Inspection Office from 1980 to 1984, followed by the Engineering Department in the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), Military Applications Division from 1985 to 1990, the Areva plant in The Hague and led projects in Arevas Fuel division from 1991 to 2001. He went on to become Deputy Director of Nuclear Energy at the CEA from 2002 to 2007, before joining Alstom in October 2007 to head up the Nuclear activity at Alstom Power. 

Given the growing importance of India in the Thermal Power portfolio, Alstom is pleased to appoint an experienced leader as Patrick Ledermann to lead Alstom India Limited to even greater heights.
