A contract worth around 410 million

The consortium formed by Alstom Thermal Power and Duro Felguera  has signed a turnkey contract with Carrington Power Limited, owned subsidiary of the Irish company ESB, to construct a gas-fired power generation plant in Carrington, the UK.

The total value of the project is set to be 640 million, out of which Alstom will receive approximately 410 million for the supply of electromechanical equipment  in addition to performing the plant's maintenance during 16 years.. Alstoms scope includes the supply of two GT26 gas turbines and other key components, including the steam turbine, heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) and turbogenerator. Duro Felguera will be responsible for construction and site management.

Scheduled for completion in 2016, The Carrington combined cycle will produce 880 MW and it will be located on the site of the old Carrington power station in Trafford, next to the Manchester Shipping Canal and the River Mersey. The construction of this plant will create around 600 jobs and it is expected to supply electricity to nearly one million homes when it begins operation in 2016.
