Alstom participates in the inauguration of the Estreito power plant

Alstom is pleased to announce the successful commissioning of a new Kaplan power plant in northern Brazil on 17th October. The Estreito hydropower plant, located on the Tocantins River between the states of Maranhão and Tocantins, was officially commissioned by President Dilma Rousseff. Alstoms electromechanical equipment allows the plant to generate 1087 MW at full capacity. Alstoms scope of supply includes:  8 X 135,8 MW generators, busbar, hydro-mechanical & lifting equipment as well as erection supervision. All equipment was manufactured at an Alstoms new Global Technology Centre in Taubaté, São Paulo State, one of the largest hydro factories (facility) of the world.
Estreito is one of the most important projects implemented in Brazil, to maintain the countrys current level of development. It is expected to spur economic and social development in the region. This inauguration also confirms Alstoms long-standing commitment to the Brazilian market and the quality of its solution to the infrastructure projects.
