Markus Alholm appointed President of Alstom Finland

Markus Alholm
, 47, has been appointed President of Alstom Finland, effective November 1st 2012, replacing Kari Sinivuori, who will pursue his career outside Alstom. Markus will act as Managing Director of Alstom Finland Oy and also be responsible for Power sales.

Markus holds a Masters degree in Economics from the Swedish School of Economics in Helsinki. He joins Alstom from Vattenfall Heat Europe where he previously held the position of Managing Director Finland. He has over 20 years of international experience in sales & marketing, top management consulting and company management in various industrial sectors (power, paper industry, lighting systems for trains, warehouse trucks,..).

I am thrilled about this new challenge. Alstoms main objective in Finland is to develop synergies between our different activities in the power generation, electrical grid and rail transport infrastructure markets to provide our customers with high added value products and services, turnkey projects & financial solutions to guarantee return on investment, says Markus Alholm.

Alstom Transport has delivered to Finland 52 trains (18 Pendolino trains, 30 suburban area commuter trains and four Allegro Pendolino trains for the Helsinki St.Petersbourg high speed link). Alstom Grid engineers and manufactures products and systems for reactive power compensation and harmonic filtering in the Tampere factory and sells and markets new equipment and solutions for power transmission.
