From 12th to 13th June 2013 Alstom will be exhibiting at RenewableUK in Manchester at stand 11 to highlight our growing reputation and presence in the UK renewable power market.
As the UK is the world's most advanced offshore wind market the 2013 RenewableUK conference programme will focus on a number of key areas for the sector:
- Planning for growth: Consenting and connecting offshore wind
- Financing offshore: challenges and opportunities
- Policy and community
- Going global: emerging markets for offshore wind
- Supply chain: working together to build an industry
- Technology and innovation
Alstom’s reliable and competitive renewable energy sector offering aims to develop solutions that use the energy of the earth, wind, water and sun. Alstom has led a range of ground-breaking, innovative projects including the development of the 6MW Haliade offshore wind turbine, the acquisition of tidal company, Tidal Generation Limited and the creation of a joint venture with SSE Renewables to co-develop the world's largest wave farm off the coast of Orkney through its holding in AWS Ocean Energy.
With new onshore installations like the Maesgwyn wind farm, the Whitelee wind farm extension and Clachan Flats wind farm, Alstom has now entered the UK renewable market at scale.
In addition, Alstom’s HVDC grid solutions have a vital future role to play in supporting the UK’s renewables market. HVDC is ideally suited for the large further offshore projects where large amounts of power must be transported over long distances to shore. Based in Stafford, Alstom Grid employs over 1,400 people with work including major onshore high voltage schemes and building and maintaining four offshore substations off the UK coast at: Robin Rigg, Ormonde, Sheringham Shoal and Barrow.
