Mark Triplett (pictured), head of Alstom Grid's demand response management (DR) activities, recently congratulated customer Nevada Energy (NVE) for their receipt of Powergrid International's 'Best Smart Metering Project of the Year' award.

The award was presented on behalf of the publication's editorial team and the Pennwell Corporation during the DistribuTECH 2013 Conference and Exhibition in San Diego, California.

Alstom is proud to support NVE's effort to better integrate with its customers through the deployment of smart grid technologies. NVE currently is using Alstom's e-terraDRBizNet demand response management system to control deployment of their fleet of distributed energy assets.

NVE provides electricity to 2.4 million customers in the U.S. state of Nevada. It manages a growing demand response portfolio which includes direct load control, price-responsive load control, energy information programs, advanced consumer gateways, and a variety of in home programmable thermostats.

With a peak demand of 7,215 MW and a peak generating capacity of only 5,815 MW, Alstom's DRMS is enabling NVE to bring more sophisticated technology to its customers that allows them to save money by better managing their energy use.

Alstom Grid experts went on camera at DistribuTECH to share insights on theSmart Grid revolution.
