A consortium led by Alstom has been awarded a contract worth around 20 million to supply a particulate removal system using the fabric filter solution to Endesa Chile S.A., the largest electric utility company in Chile. The solution will be implemented for Endesas Tarapaca coal-fired power plant. This new project will be fully executed by Alstoms Environmental Control Systems (ECS) unit in Latin America and is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2013.

Alstoms fabric filter solution is designed to meet the ever increasing stringent standards in particulate emission limits. It offers reliable, highly efficient and cost effective ways to control particulate emissions to very low levels. The air quality control equipment supplied by Alstom will be in full compliance with the new local environmental regulation in Chile, which called for significant reduction of particulates by the end of 2013.

Commenting on this contract, Daniel Santos, General Director for Alstoms ECS Business in Latin America explained: The environmental regulation in Chile has been defined to achieve important reductions in emission of pollutants. Alstom has a broad portfolio of air quality control systems to enable our customers to meet these regulations with minimised cost and to produce cleaner power. This new project is a strong testimony of our technical capabilities, innovative solutions and solid references.

Alstom is an established leader in the supply of environmental control systems worldwide and has installed more than 300 Fabric Filter systems for power plants globally.
