Alstom Grid has been selected by Interconexion Electrica S.A (ISA), the largest power transmission company in Latin America, for two important contracts in the region, totaling nearly 10 million.

In Peru, Alstom will be responsible for the extension of the Puno substation as well as the reconfiguration of the busbar[1] system for the Ayaviri substation. Both substations are located in the Andes Mountains in Central Peru.

For the Puno substation project, Alstom will supply its GL range of Live Tank Circuit Breakers, which has proven to be the most efficient and reliable solution for switching and protecting highly stressed electrical networks. For the Ayavari substation, Alstoms scope includes the reconfiguration of the busbar system to improve reliability of the substation.

These projects will serve the growing demand of the country for energy and represent a first step for new energy expansion projects in Peru.

Alstom has also been selected by ISA for a turnkey extension at the Jamondino substation, in Colombia. This 220 kV substation, located in the Pasto region, will reinforce the energy exportation system with Ecuador. Alstom will apply its air-insulated substation (AIS) technology, which is well adapted to the countrys high altitude and long length of the circuits.  Once in operation, the Jamondino Substation will provide an additional 150 MW capacity to the ISA interconnection with Ecuador.

"We are confident that the Latin American market will continue to invest in new transmission and distribution projects to attend its energy consume growth. The countries are growing and, besides new projects, we have to renew and reinforce the existent transmission and distribution networks installed and in operation for more than 50 years, said Sergio Gomes, Vice President of Alstom Grid Sector in Latin America.
All three projects are due for delivery within the next 12 months.
