Alstom has signed a contract worth around 25 million with Pampa Energía - the largest fully integrated electricity company in Argentina to modernise two existing boilers in the Piedra Buena thermal power plant located in Bahia Blanca. Completion of the project is due in December 2015 for the first unit and June 2016 for the second.

Alstoms full scope also includes a major overhaul on both boilers and also the implementation of auxiliary devices, such as air preheaters, steam turbine bypass, safety valves and fan systems.  A steam pipe stress and dynamic analysis is also included on the contract to guarantee its life cycle extension.

It is a real recognition for Alstom to be seen as a reliable partner for unit life time extension on the thermal market, says Ernesto Garberoglio, Country President of Alstom Argentina.

Piedra Buena power plant has a capacity of 620MW and is responsible for 2% of the energy installed capacity in Argentina.
