Alstom has signed a new contract with Tizir Titanium and Iron AS to supply flue gas cleaning systems for a smelting plant in Tyssedal, Norway. The plant, which produces titanium slag and high purity pig iron, is owned and operated by Tizir Titanium and Iron AS. The contract, worth 6.6 million, covers the delivery, installation and commissioning of various flue gas cleaning systems for three areas of the plant.

Tizir Titanium & Iron AS plan to develop and expand its activity in Tyssedal. A significant part of their initial investment focuses on bringing substantial environmental improvements to the industrial processes at Tyssedal. In this respect the current flue gas cleaning systems need to be replaced and upgraded. Alstom will supply wet Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP), fabric filters, fans and ducting.

The smelting plant is important for our future sustainable growth and production in this region and we have chosen Alstom because of their well-proven equipment and innovative technology, as well as their competitive offer, said Harald Grande, CEO, Tizir Titanium and Iron AS.
The project will be executed by Alstom Norway. Engineering and material supply will start immediately and continue until July 2015.

We are very pleased that Alstom has been chosen as a preferred flue gas cleaning partner to Tizir. With this contract we expect to engage around 50 people to carry out the installation and commissioning on site, said Eric Staurset, President of Alstom Norway.

Civil works at the plant will start in July 2015. Installation and commissioning will continue through summer and autumn, and performance tests and final operation approval are scheduled for March 2016.
