First two trains delivered by Alstom to SuperVia starts operation

In March, the first two trains delivered by Alstom to Supervia started operating. The new train is formed by eight cars, twice as much as those currently operating, increasing the capacity of transported passengers to 2.6 thousand per trip.

The first delivery event, held on March 18th, was attended by Rio de Janeiro’s Governor, Sergio Cabral, in addition to the Vice-Governor and Infrastructure Coordinator, Luiz Fernando Pezão, the Transport Secretary of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Lopes, the President of Supervia, Carlos José, and the President of Alstom Brazil, Marcos Costa and the Transport Director of Alstom Brazil, Marco Contin. Along with the population, the guests made the inaugural trip between the stations of Nilópolis, at Baixada Fluminense, and Deodoro, in Rio’s North Zone.

The second train, delivered on March 30th, held the inaugural trip between stations Saracuruna and Gramacho in Duque de Caxias / RJ.

The 80 new cars that will be delivered by September 2014 will have innovative design, air conditioning, internal passage between cars, a system that does not allow the opening of doors during the trips, an internal camera circuit and LED panels.

The delivery of these trains is a very important milestone both for the state of Rio de Janeiro and for Alstom, as it represents an improvement in terms of urban mobility due to large investments in transport. In addition, the unit focused on assembly of the trains in Deodoro should be opened soon, which reaffirm Alstom’s and SuperVia’s commitment to improve public transportation on the state.
