Alstom launches a new professional training program for the tramway Project Maravilha, in partnership with the National Service for Industrial Training (SENAI) and the Steelworkers Union of Taubaté for which candidates will be able to apply on Senai website between 14 and 30 August. This training, developed specifically for Alstom, will prepare candidates to Alstom positions in the new Taubaté factory. Trainees will learn basic operating skills for tramway assembly. The courses will begin on 16th September.

In this first phase of the training, 130 vacancies will be provided  with class workload of 88 hours. At the end of this phase, Alstom will select the best trainees for a position in the new Alstom Transport unit in Taubaté. They will then follow specific training modules developed by SENAI, as part of the companys professional development plan. The prerequisites to apply are minimum age of 18 years old and completed or on-going high school degree. The classes listed in the program are Applied Mathematics, Behavior and Quality, Technical Drawing, and Logistics, among others.

When the factory is in full operational activity, the expectation is to employ about 150 people. Opening in 2015, this will be the first tramway factory in Latin America, bringing a new segment to the Brazilian transport market. The unit, which represents an investment of approximately 15 million Euros, will cover an area of 16,000m². Alstom supports educational actions and partnerships like this one worldwide. Our greatest recognition is to open doors for the future of these new professionals, says Michel Boccaccio, Senior Vice-President of Alstom Transport in Latin America.

This is an initiative among others already settled between Alstom and SENAI. The school, which has 90 units in Brazil, is recognized as a professional education model for the quality of its technology services which help promote innovation in Brazilian industry. SENAIs unit in Taubaté is awarded nationally and has trained over 350 000 professionals.
