UISOL and PLMA share demand response experience

Alstom is pleased to announce that its consulting and systems integration services group, UISOL, will be leading a Demand Response Markets course to be held on October 14-15 at Southern California Edison. The two-day course explores the structure of traditionally regulated, restructured, and emerging electricity markets; the role of market participants; and, a detailed review of the specific markets in which demand response participates.

The course is part of the Demand Response Training Series sponsored by the Peak Load Management Alliance (PLMA). PLMA is a non-profit organization founded in 1999 as the national voice of demand response practitioners. Dr. Scott Coe of UISOL will deliver the course in conjunction with a cross-section of panel presenters representing the diverse PLMA membership as well as host representatives from Southern California Edison.

In addition to the Demand Response Markets course, the PLMA Training Series includes a one-day course on Introduction to Demand Response as well as a two-day course on Demand Response Program Design and Implementation.

DR Markets Course presented at Consumers Energy in January 2015

The Demand Response Markets course was first offered in January 2015 at Consumers Energy.  The October 14-15 course will be held at Southern California Edison. The course will also be offered in short-form at DistribuTech, in February 2016 In Orlando.

Utility and regulatory staff as well as other energy industry trade allies and organizations are seeking to improve their knowledge of how demand response methods can be used in the electricity industry to meet peak electricity demand, mitigate the impact of high electricity prices, and manage variable generation.  UISOL is honored to be a PLMA training partner and to help PLMA provide an unbiased and national perspective of wholesale energy market models and DR program design, said Scott Coe, who leads UISOLs Demand Response practice.

PLMA launched the Demand Response Training Series in response to priorities identified by our 80+ member organizations.  UISOL and Scott Coe were selected to develop and deliver the Demand Response Markets course based on recognized industry leadership in demand response combined with extensive practical experience designing and implementing DR programs. We are excited to offer the course again on October 14-15, in response to member requests, said PLMA Chair, Paul Tyno.
