Alstom involved in initiative to promote industrial jobs to female students


Alstom has joined forces with the "Elles bougent" association in an initiative to promote engineering jobs for high school girls and female students at the "Elles bougent pour l'industrie en Rhône-Alpes" forum, which is aimed at encouraging women to start a career in industry in the Rhône-Alpes region of France. 

Alstom receives innovation trophy at SIFER


Alstom was awarded an innovation trophy for the development of its « bi-modal » damper at the SIFER railway salon, held in Lille on 24-26 March. 

Alstom and Calw district in Germany sign a letter of intent on the development of a zero emission train


Alstom representatives and Helmut Riegger, District Administrator of Calw, signed a letter of intent for the planned use of new emission-free fuel cell drive trains on the Hermann-Hesse railway line. This line is set to improve access to the Black Forest and make it become a nearby area of relaxation.

SSL, Alstom’s signalling joint venture in the UK, to supply signalling for Crossrail project


Alstom’s UK signalling joint venture Signalling Solutions Ltd (SSL) has been awarded a contract worth €54 million by Network Rail to deliver a signalling system for Crossrail East Anglia section.

Alstom signs two more biomass contracts in the UK


Alstom has signed two contracts with Danish power plant specialist Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor (BWSC) for Geared Reaction steam turbines (GRT) to be used in two UK biomass projects.

Alstom Coradia Lint commuter trains start commercial service in Ottawa


On 2 March 2015, the Alstom Coradia Lint trains delivered to OC Transpo entered into service on the 8-kilometre light rail O-Train Trillium Line in Ottawa, Canada. In 2012, OC Transpo, the urban transit service for the City of Ottawa, entrusted Alstom with the supply of six Coradia Lint diesel multiple-units (DMU). The DMUs' robust passenger capacity and flexibility will help meet growing ridership and demand from passengers on the expanded O-Train Trillium Line.

Alstom to build the first series compensation system in the South Australian transmission network


Alstom Grid has been awarded a multi-million euro turnkey contract by ElectraNet Pty Ltd to supply Flexible AC Transmission Systems in Southern Australia. Alstom will supply Fixed Series Compensation to increase the power transmission capacity by approximately 40 per cent, and improve power quality along the 275 kV South Australia – Victoria transmission line.

Alstom to maintain Trensurb metros for the Porto Alegre Metro line 1


Alstom signed a contract with Empresa de Trens Urbanos de Porto Alegre (Trensurb) to provide preventive maintenance for 15 metro trains.

Alstom’s GT13E2 fleet passes 10 million fired hours


Alstom’s GT13E2 E-Class gas turbine  achieved a significant milestone by accumulating more than 10 million fired hours.

Alstom’s 1MW tidal stream turbine installed in Scotland achieves 1 GWh power production


On the 6th December, the 1MW tidal stream turbine installed and connected by Alstom at the EMEC (European Marine Energy Centre) off the Orkney Islands, as part of the ReDAPT Project delivered in partnership with the Energy Technologies Institute, has produced 1 GWh for the grid.
