Alstom's commitment to delivering cleaner energy across the world has saved more than the equivalent of three times Austria's annual emissions over the last decade, new figures show.

Paris, 30 May 2013. EDF Energies Nouvelles and wpd offshore, two key players in European offshore wind energy, have announced the signing of a partnership agreement.

Verbund Hydro Power AG has placed an order with Alstom for the renovation of two generators in the Kaprun Hauptstufe hydropower plant in Austria.

Between 1 April 2012 and 31 March 2013, Alstom booked €23.8 billion of orders, up 10% compared to last year. As announced, the group achieved a strong level of orders in the fourth quarter at €6.6 billion, leading to a book-to-bill above 1 for the 10th consecutive quarter.

Alstom Renewable Power was selected by Energias do Brazil, to supply all electromechanical equipment to Cachoeira Caldeirão, a 220 MW hydro plant. Energias do Brazil is a subsidiary of the Portuguese EDP Group, one of the largest operators in the European electricity sector.

Alstom Renewable Power and Renova Energia, a leader in wind power generation in Brazil, signed the first contract as part of a memorandum of understanding, agreed and announced in February 2012.

Centrica Energy has awarded Alstom a €120 million contract for gas turbine maintenance services at its South Humber Bank power station in the north of the UK. The agreement covers the five Alstom GT13E2 gas turbines installed at the 1260 MW combined-cycle power plant over the next seven years.

Lake Road Generating Company, L.P. has entered into a €125 million service contract with Alstom for its 844 MW combined-cycle power plant located in Dayville, Connecticut. The agreement covers the Lake Road facility’s three Alstom GT24 gas turbines.

Alstom has been awarded a contract to supply equipment for the Yanbu 3 power and desalination plant located on the Red Sea coast in the western part of Saudi Arabia. This will be one of the country’s first supercritical power plants to run on heavy fuel oil. This investment is part of Saudi Arabia’s objective to expand its power generation base while minimising impact on the environment. The contract is worth around €750 million .

Alstom has been selected to refurbish four steam turbine generator units, with an approximate power capacity of 900 MW each, for Ontario Power Generation’s (OPG) 3,512 MW Darlington power plant (Darlington).

Alstom Power has renewed a maintenance contract with Petrobras for seven years to service 11 gas turbines, four steam turbines and 14 generators installed in their Governador Leonel Brizola (Termorio), Fernando Gasparian (Piratininga) and Celso Furtado (Termobahia) combined-cycle power plants.

Alstom has inaugurated its new Mobile Precision Workshop facility in Tianjin, China. Operated by Alstom Thermal Services China (TSCN) the Workshop aims to meet the increasing needs of customers across China by providing on-site and superior quality repair services in maintaining large steam turbines, generators and related equipment at customer premises on a very short notice.

Alstom’s Thermal Services business has recently inaugurated its Switched Integrated Rectifier (SIR) manufacturing site in Beijing. With this facility Alstom aims to support Chinese power and industrial operators to meet the new emission regulations and reduce pollution. Alstom reinforces its presence in the thermal services market in China by local production of SIR 4 – the fourth generation of SIR in the country.

Alstom and NaturEner Energy Canada Inc. (“NaturEner”) have entered into an agreement for the supply of up to 414 MW of wind turbines to be installed at NaturEner’s Wild Rose Projects in Alberta.

Following its recent acquisition of Tidal Generation Limited from Rolls-Royce, Alstom ‘s 1MW tidal turbine generated power for the first time at the European Marine Energy Centre’s (EMEC) tidal test site in Orkney, Scotland.
