Wuhan Boiler Company (WBC), Alstom’s largest utility boiler manufacturing site in the world, has signed a contract with Shandong Weiqiao Pioneering Group Co. Ltd., to supply four 350 MW sub-critical pulverised coal-fired boilers, for a cogeneration power plant located in Shandong Province, China.

Alstom, a global leader in power generation equipment and services, has signed a close to €50 million contract with China State Development and Investment Corporation (SDIC), to supply 2x660MW Steam Turbine Generator units for a fossil fuel power plant in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. Between 1st April and 30th September 2011, Alstom booked a sound level of orders at €10.2 billion, up 45% compared to the first half of last year, confirming the recovery achieved in the second part of 2010/11. On 28 July, Alstom signed an operation and maintenance contract for about twenty years, worth around €330 million with Dalia Power Energies Ltd for the 835 MW gas-fired Tzafit power plant in Israel. This service contract follows the agreement signed earlier in June 2011 between Alstom and Dalia Power Energies to construct two 417 MW gas-fired combined cycle units on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis. Alstom, in consortium with Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), has been awarded a contract worth over €285 million by Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (THDC) to install a 1000 MW variable speed pumped storage hydro power plant on the river Bhagirathi in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It will be India’s first pumped storage power plant to use variable speed technology. Alstom’s share of the contract is worth around €180 million.

In the context of the visit in France of Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Alstom today signed a series of agreements in the Russian power generation sector, confirming Alstom’s strong commitment to the development of energy sector in Russia.
Alstom has taken a 40% equity share in Scottish renewable energy company AWS Ocean Energy, representing Alstom’s entry to the wave energy market. Alstom will be a shareholder alongside Shell Technology Ventures Fund 1 and Scottish Investment Bank, who continue their support of AWS.

Alstom signed a contract worth nearly €200 million to build and service three wind farms in Brazil for Brasventos S.A., a special purpose company composed of J. Malucelli Energia (51%), Eletrobras Eletronorte (24,5%) and Eletrobras Furnas (24,5%).
