Between 1 April 2011 and 31 March 2012, Alstom booked €21.7 billion of orders, up 14% compared to last year. As announced, the fourth quarter was particularly strong with €6.6 billion of new contracts.

In the context of the visit in France of Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Alstom today signed a series of agreements in the Russian power generation sector, confirming Alstom’s strong commitment to the development of energy sector in Russia.

The Polish operator PKP Intercity, in charge of long distance passenger transport, has awarded Alstom a contract worth €665 million to supply 20 high speed trains, their full maintenance up to 17 years and the construction of a new maintenance depot.

Conference speakers addressed the public administration officials with current operations and construction of high-speed railways in and out of Europe, and a sketch of high-speed rail network in the Czech Republic.

Patrick Kron, Chairman and CEO of Alstom, and Jianguo Xu, Chairman and CEO of Shanghai Electric Group, announce the signing of a letter of intent for the creation of Alstom-Shanghai Electric Boilers Co, a 50/50 joint company combining both partners’ activities in the boiler market for power plants.

By its acquisition on 7 June 2010 of Areva T&D’s transmission business, Alstom completes a decisive stage in its development by forming a new sector, named Alstom Grid, to supplement the existing two sectors in power generation and rail transport, Power and Transport. Priced at €2.3 billion, this acquisition gives a new dimension to the Group, which, now with its three activities, achieves sales of more than €23 billion and employs more than 96,000 people. 

Alstom and Schneider Electric proceed today with the closing of the transaction with Areva for the acquisition of Areva T&D, its transmission and distribution businesses, after obtaining the approvals of the relevant competition authorities and the French Commission des Participations et des Transferts (CPT).
